Chief Results:
Datacentre Migration: Transfer of applications and systems from a customer datacentre to that of my company's Outsourcing division. This entailed building and testing replica environments where applicable, and then switching over when ready, or, for less critical applications, moving services with downtime. Each application migration included extensive client-device reconfiguration. At all times, the client had a keen eye on costs and on minimising downtime whilst eliminating risk. I managed a team of ten, plus 3rd party service providers over a course of three months to achieve this.
Business-to-Business Electronic Workflow Installation : Project-managed the installation of an e-business system allowing my client to trade electronically with their client. The round-trip workflow required the use of multiple steps with application software provided to the project. Whilst a small team was used to carry out the implementation, there were significant political obstacles to overcome. I was able to manage this, completing the project to specification, time and authorised spend.
Company Integration: In six months, planned and executed integration of a recently-acquired division into the IT environment. This included assessment of current equipment, systems and procedures, as well as creation, development & execution of installation plans. The implementation exercise also involved managing a small team over three offices. The installation was executed with no significant (and zero unplanned) disruption to business. Since implementation, the newly-integrated offices have run completely problem-free.
Web Projects: Discussion Forums, Fantasy Formula One: Using PHP and MySQL, I created, from scratch, custom discussion forums to add to the giles-guthrie.com web site. This is in addition to other areas of the site, including an also created-from-scratch Fantasy Formula One competition, currently featuring 108 competitors, and experiencing 100% year-on-year growth in each of its three years.
Electronic Document Management: Have successfully overseen the installation of an EDM system particularly suited to the construction industry, allowing intranet/extranet collaboration across multiple-partner joint ventures, facilitating co-operation without sacrificing or risking security of information on any of the partner networks, or of the projects themselves. This system has had significant ROI, allowing real-time data sharing, and document version control, particularly in drawings. Additionally, have since optimised this system to give an 80% reduction in implementation cost.
E-Business: Technical architect for project allowing raw data extracted from an Informix database to be formatted into purchase requests, orders, invoices and remittance advices, and then automatically delivered to the relevant parties both inside and outside the company.
Office creation: Have created eighteen IT-literate offices for construction sites, ranging from multi-building large-scale LAN sites to small one- and two-man offices. This was always done with complete attendance to timescales and budgetary requirements. All of these projects remain under budget.
